St. Louis Sunset // Pentax K1000
Frustrated with my Olympus point and shoot 35mm camera that I was using that never gave sharp focus, my photography mentor and buddy, Steve Yancey, gifted me with a Pentax K1000 with a broken light meter. After a quick little session to point out all the important buttons, we set out to Malcolm W Martin Memorial Park with full intention of climbing that ramp that you can see to the left in the image. However, Steve and I both stopped short of there and decided we liked the view better from where we were standing here...just a few yards from the truck. I tweeted out an iPhone picture really quick that got retweeted by KMOV, so we got some outside advice that our location was as epic as we thought. Everyone takes pictures at this spot and changing up the vantage point gave us something different, which is always my goal when snapping an image. So, click click boom and the image was forever on my first roll of film that I shot on my new old Pentax. Steve grabbed the black and white film and took it to his home and used his developing magic on my negatives and this is the result. I hope you find it as majestic as I do. As always, this image has only been developed and not manipulated or filtered in any way.
